EGC Kickoff News

Greetings Golfers,

At this writing, some of you are in warmer climates playing golf, some are “mudding” it out in the PNW and some of you are simply watching golf on TV, counting the days (months) until you can resume your game.  Whatever your situation, know that the Evergreen Golf Club (EGC) board has been working diligently negotiating with courses and preparing for an even stronger schedule for this, our second year as a club.  Here’s what we can share so far:

Pro Golf Discount to sponsor the KP’s this year

Based on the success of our initial season, Pro Golf has agreed to sponsor the KP’s for our Weekend Tournaments.  This means that a dedicated, fixed amount will go to KP’s, rather than basing it on the number of participants.  Thank you Pro Golf Discount!

17 Weekend Tournaments so far..

This year’s schedule, which includes our kickoff at The Home Course and a two-day August Club Championship at Harbor Pointe and The Home Course, came from a combination of feedback from last year’s players and some behind-the-scenes negotiating by Brent.  We’ve removed a few courses while adding some different options.  Still hoping to add a few more.  Here’s a link to the list of the courses we have confirmed so far:  https://egcweekendtournaments2023.golfgenius.com/pages/9159690791302507661

Thursday Nights return to Willows Run

We will be playing Thursday League exclusively at Willows Run, the decision based on strong survey feedback and underwhelming turnout at Redmond Ridge. Opening night is tentatively scheduled for April 13th, running through early September with the Points Championship slated for September 16th and 17th.

Have do I renew?  How do I sign up?

If you didn’t sign up for auto-renewal, it’s time to do so as we are well into posting season.   You can simply click on our home page and it has instructions.  Here’s that link: https://egc.golfgenius.com

Alternatively,  this should also take you directly to the WA golf membership signup page https://wagolf.clubdashboard.org/capi_online_membership/displaymembership/158

Note: Make sure you are joining the correct Evergreen Golf Club. If you go to the WA Golf “Join or Renew” page and see the full list of clubs, make sure you are joining  “Evergreen Golf Club”, not “THE Evergreen Golf Club”.  “THE” Evergreen Golf Club is a different organization with a very similar name.

If you already have a GHIN  and just want to join our Club at a reduced membership fee, then Email us at EvergreenGC@outlook.com with the following information:  Preferred Name, GHIN #, Club affiliation and your email address and we will make arrangements to invoice you.

Kickoff Tournament coming up on March 19th

We have chosen The Home Course to start off the season.  This event will be a 4-man, two best-ball format.  Sign-up individually and we will create equitable teams based on handicaps.  You should have received an invitation, but if somehow you missed it, you can go to our home page, click on Weekend tournaments and sign up there.  Here’s the link: https://egc-weekendtournaments2023.golfgenius.com/pages/9159690789624786059

Kickoff Zoom Meeting March 1st

Nothing better than a group of guys talking about golf, which is just what will happen at our Kickoff Zoom meeting.  The meeting is scheduled for 7 pm PST on March 1st and is your chance to hear from the volunteers that run this club and also a chance to chime in with any questions you might have.  If you haven’t already received an invitation, here’s the link to join: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88189628810?pwd=VHVqYWFCRGN4a3M5U0pYeEdlOGNMZz09

What Else?

In addition to our weekend events and Thursday night league, there will still be two Match Play tournaments, one for Singles and one Two-Man partners event.  Those usually get rolling towards the end of April.  Look for sign-ups in early April.

Questions?  Website?

Please direct any questions to EvergreenGC@outlook.com and don’t forget our Website, https://egc.golfgenius.com

And Finally-We are always looking for New Members!

Don’t forget, in December of 2021 when Willows Mens Club was disbanded through no choice of our own, the existing volunteer board took it upon ourselves to move forward.  15 months later, after a good first season, we are ready to grow and we need your help.  Word-of-Mouth is the best advertising and other than the flyers at Pro Golf, really our only advertising.  Please tell your friends!

Until next time, “Fairways and Greens.”
