EGC Spring News

Greetings Golfers,

Two months ago we were talking about “mudding” it around the course. Today, this newsletter is being delivered after back-to-back 78 degree days.  We’ve already had several weekend tournaments, including White Horse, which brought out our largest turnout of the year,  and a couple of Thursday nights. Match Play is just around the corner.  Lots more to talk about, so let’s get down to it:

President’s Cup Match Play Sign up ASAP

The deadline to sign-up is Tuesday, May 2nd at 6pm.  This bracket style tournament  is limited to the first 32 to sign up and we are just about there.  For those not familiar, in each round you and your opponent will agree on a date and time and course, not limited to Willows and play.  Winners advance to round of 16, then 8 etc. until we have our 2023 President’s Cup Champ.  Will Deven Khanna repeat or will we have a new titleholder? Don’t miss out! Here’s the link for more info: https://egc-presidentscup2023.golfgenius.com/pages/9167601207408110596

Four-Ball Sign-ups happening now

Here’s your chance to de-throne last year’s champs, Chad Allen and Pawel Wojnarowicz.  Grab yourself a partner or sign-up as a single and we’ll do the best to pair you.  This match-play tournament pits 2-man teams in a bracket-style match play format.   Sign-ups end soon Friday at 6pm.   Click here for how to register: https://egc-fourballmatchplay2023.golfgenius.com/pages/9167607911080307726

Thursday Nights off and Running

The popular Thursday night 9-hole golf tournaments/league are under way. Played at Willows Run.  This is both a weekly and season long event, so join us for just a few, or play as many as you can and earn points for the season ending Points Cup.  Right now we have room for 36, but if demand dictates, we will try for more.  Tee times have been starting around 4pm, but will likely start later as days get longer.    Sign up begin 3 weeks in advance and usually cut off Tuesday night before the event.  If it shows “full,” get on the wait list as inevitably we have some cancellations.  We had 34 on the most recent Thursday.  After your 9-holes, if light allows, keep on playing or join the guys at Black Raven brewery just South of the course.

22 Weekend Tournaments this year

This year’s schedule, like the long days, is just getting started.  Over 20 events including a 36 hole day at Gold Mountain, 27 at Avalon and our two-day  August Club Championship at Harbor Pointe and The Home Course.  The schedule came from a combination of feedback from last year’s players and also trying a few new ones.  Still hoping to add a few more.  Here’s a link to the list of the courses we have confirmed so far:  https://egcweekendtournaments2023.golfgenius.com/pages/9159690791302507661

Signups for weekend events begin 4 weeks out and end 7 days prior.  If the course allows and there is room, registration may be extended.

Speaking of Registering…and unregistering…

Our software is set up to automatically send out invitations to register for the events when they are open to registration.  If you know you can’t play, please help by hitting “not playing.”  This keeps a follow-up from going out so everyone benefits.  Also, refunds for Weekend withdraws after the registration closes, depends on the course.  For both Weekend and Thursday events, send something to EvergreenGC@Outlook.com and we will do the best we can.  In all cases, the sooner you let us know, the better.

Our Website has loads of information..

EGC.Golfgenius.com is your friend.  From tournament information, schedules, results, carpool chats you can find everything EGC.  Carpool chat is under Weekend events.  Logging in gets you even more information/access.

And speaking of Results..

Congratulations to Brent Taylor and Jim Barnes who tied for low net first flight and Brian Sachse and John Sell who finished 1-2 in the second flight at White Horse this weekend.  Brian and John were the only two players in the field to break Net par.  Tells me several things:  Course was tough, we have an honest group of handicaps and Brian and John really were on their game.

Pace of Play reminder

Nobody likes 5 hour rounds.  On Saturdays, it is especially important we keep up as it’s never good to known as the group of guys that clogs down the course.  Please be ready to hit when it’s your turn and we’d also encourage you to “putt-out” when possible.

Pro Golf Discount to sponsor the KP’s this year

Based on the success of our initial season, Pro Golf has agreed to sponsor the KP’s for our Weekend Tournaments.  This means that a dedicated, fixed amount will go to KP’s, rather than basing it on the number of participants.  Thank you Pro Golf Discount!

Have do I renew?  How do I sign up?

If you didn’t sign up for auto-renewal, it’s time to do so as we are well into posting season.   You can simply click on our home page and it has instructions.  Here’s that link: https://egc.golfgenius.com

Alternatively,  this should also take you directly to the WA golf membership signup page https://wagolf.clubdashboard.org/capi_online_membership/displaymembership/158

Note: Make sure you are joining the correct Evergreen Golf Club. If you go to the WA Golf “Join or Renew” page and see the full list of clubs, make sure you are joining  “Evergreen Golf Club”, not “THE Evergreen Golf Club”.  “THE” Evergreen Golf Club is a different organization with a very similar name.

If you already have a GHIN  and just want to join our Club at a reduced membership fee, then Email us at EvergreenGC@outlook.com with the following information:  Preferred Name, GHIN #, Club affiliation and your email address and we will make arrangements to invoice you.

And Finally-We are always looking for New Members!

All of us who work hard to keep EGC going and evolving are excited to see so many new faces this year (as well as the returnees.) Thanks for all who have referred your friends.   Word-of-Mouth is the best advertising and other than the flyers at Pro Golf, really our only advertising.  Please continue to tell your friends!

Until next time, “Fairways and Greens.”
