Weekend Results

Lake Spanaway – 5/2

Sixteen players turned out at Lake Spanaway in early May. Adam Hill and John Sell tied the single flight for low Net with 69, while Dave Rudduck was right behind them at 70.  Lew Brunhaver and John Sell both carded a Gross 84 overall.  Parker Fox, Cody Dickens and Lew took home Gross Skins, while Parker, Lew, Adam, Dave, Rudduck, and Chris Carpenter took home Net Skins. John (18’), Adam (17’ 2”), Lew (4’ 6”) and Parker (15’ 7”) had the four KPs.

Walter Hall – 5/9

We had a beautiful sunny day with a high haze and comfortable temperatures in the upper sixties at Walter Hall Golf Course in Everett. The course was generally dry and played well, although the greens were slow, especially on the back 9. Daniel Woodrow fired the low Gross at +4 (76), cruising past a tie of Joe Haubner and Robert Lutz who both finished at +9 (81).

For the Net Tournament results (and prizes), in Flight 1, Michelle Mobley absolutely dominated all day, the only player to finish at even par (72 net from an 84 gross). Her steady approach paid huge dividends and secured first place net honors. Daniel Woodrow took second place net at +3 (75), and Joe Haubner took third, but Mobley's wire-to-wire excellence couldn't be touched.

In Flight 2 it was a close finish. Dave Rudduck and David Clemons tied for first at +3, while Geoffrey Rocker, Vic Lawson and Bryan Johnson had a three way tie for Third, one back at +4.

No one won any Gross Skins at Walter Hall, showing how evenly the field was playing. For Net Skins, we had three people win two skins each - Adam Hill posted two skin wins on holes 4 and 13 with eagle and birdie respectively, while Mark Carpenter won two on 9 and 10, and Chris Carpenter snagged two of his own on holes 12 and 16. Bryan Johnston won the par-4 sixth, and John Gray picked up hole seven.

In closest-to-pin action, Vic Lawson was on the 200+ yard Hole 3 at just 16-feet-5, while Brent Taylor hit the eighth at 24 feet. Chris Neuman parked one at 17-feet-1 on 14, and Brandon Mobley found the green on 17 at 17-feet-9.

Congratulations to our winners!

Thursday League

We have held our first four Thursday Leage outings and have had a great turnout, fielding 28-30 players most weeks. We’ve had a few people on the waiting list every week but we’ve been able to get everyone out on the course, so even if an event is full, sign up for the waiting list if you want to play. We had great weather the first three weeks; this past week was a bit chilly but the rain held off and we all got home dry.  Deven Khana and Chris Carpenter are #1 and #2 atop the Points Leaderboard (Under Standings on the EGC Thursday League 2026 Portal, sort by Points).

KP Measurements when there is no Tape Measure

If there is no Tape Measure on a KP hole, just use the iPhone “Measure” app. If you have an iPhone, practice with it now. If you have a Samsung phone, there is a similar Measure app. If you have another Android phone, there are some free ad-supported apps in the Appstore but we don’t recommend them – let one of your buddies with an iPhone take the measurement.

  1. Open the Measure app: Find the app icon on your home screen or in your app library and tap to open it. It may be in the Utilities folder, or search for Measure.
  2. Move your phone around: Calibrate the app so it gets a feel for the ground.
  3. Position the dot: Point the white dot in the center of the screen at the starting point of your desired measurement (the hole). You should be 6-8 feet away.
  4. Set the starting point (the hole): Tap the “+” button to set the starting point of your measurement.
  5. Move to the endpoint (the ball): Slowly move your iPhone to the ending point of the object or space you want to measure, pointing at the ground at a straight line between the hole and the ball.
  6. Take a measurement: The measurement will be displayed on the screen. Type the number into the KP entry on Live Tourney Scorecard.

Thursday Tee Time Chart

What are the Thursday Tee Times? It seems like it’s always a mystery what the tee times are going to be on Thursday. How do you guys decide what times they are going to be? Should I be requesting a “late tee time” or just “After 5 pm”?  We’ve got answers to your questions! Our Thursday League doesn’t start at a fixed start time like 4:00 pm every Thursday. We try to book Thursday Tee times as late as possible based on Sunset times. Sunset times come from Date and Time website: Sunrise and sunset times in Redmond. We back up three hours from Sunset for the last tee time, estimate how many people we think will sign up for a given week, and then figure out our first tee time, and work with Willows Run Pro Shop to try to block these times out a few weeks in advance.

Why do we allow 3 hours when 9 holes should only take 2:15? A couple of reasons. First, the sun drops down behind the hill about 30 minutes before sunset, and after too many years of people finishing in “flat light” or worse, dark, we wanted to allow a buffer. Second, we wanted to allow for slow play in the public groups ahead of our first tee time (and sometimes our own groups) that frequently holds us up, so again the last groups are not pushed back into the dark. And finally, it sometimes gives us a bit of buffer to add one or two extra tee times if we have an unexpectedly large signup/waitlist, to get everyone out.

Here is a chart of the current planned tee times (subject to change) for 2026. This chart is also on the Thursday League Portal under Tee Times. Go to https://egc.golfgenius.com (save that site), click on Thursday League, then click on Tee Times.

Are you getting too much mail from Evergreen Golf Club?

We know you are getting a lot of mail from Evergreen Golf Club. We’ve had a lot of events this spring, especially with three weekend events in April and four in May, kicking off weekly Thursday League, kicking off Match Play, launching our new Live Tourney tournament software (and making sure everyone is getting the new emails), newsletters, and tournament results. Some of this will quiet down a little bit over the next few weeks. Match Play signup is now complete so only the folks in Match Play will keep getting those emails, and June only has two weekend events. We wanted to share a summary of what we are sending out so it hopefully doesn’t look quite so random.

  • Event Signup Emails – We are sending out two emails for each event – one when Registration Opens (typically 3-4 weeks before the event) and a reminder a few days before registration closes (“Last Call.”) Some people need 3-4 weeks advance notice to get their calendar blocked. Others like to wait until closer to see if they are still free or to check their weather apps. We’ve also had a couple of cases where we have accidentally sent out a couple of extra emails as we are getting used to our new system, so we apologize for those.
  • Event Results – New this year, we are sending out some of the Event Results to the entire club rather than just the participants. We are trying this out with the idea that you might not have been able to play in a particular event but you still might be interested in how your friends (or competitors) did. We want to share the excitement and celebrate the victories of our club members with everyone. If you’re in the club, you’re probably at least somewhat interested in the results of our tournaments.
  • Newsletters & New Season/Software Launch – We have had a lot to talk about with our new software, with the upcoming season, and expanding on some of the tournament results. We want to make our newsletters a more regular communication this year, along with tips and suggestions on the Live Scoring software and other club news.
  • Event Tee Times – If you sign up for an event you will get the tee time sheet. Sometimes we have to revise this due to last-minute cancellations and changes.

Our goal is to help drive interest and more signups in club events – we want to see you and your friends out on the golf course this season!

Thank you for reading this far!

April 2026 - Golf News and Updates

Hi Evergreen Golfers!

The Evergreen Golf Club (EGC) Golf Season has kicked off with our first two weekend events in the books!  Our Thursday League kicking off this week, and we have a nearly full field for Riverbend this coming Saturday.  We hope to see all of you out on the course soon!  If you haven’t signed up already, go to http://egc.golfgenius.com and follow the signup instructions.   Questions?  Email EvergreenGC@outlook.com

(If you are not getting our event signup mails, please check the info on how to find/prevent junk mail filters on our website, or send us an email and we can try to troubleshoot).

Event Results

  • Spring Kickoff (4/4) – We held our Spring Kickoff at Legion Memorial a couple of weeks ago.   Six teams (24 players) competed in a 2-best-ball format.  Steve Morin, Lew Brunhaver, Gabe Lichten, and David Clemons ran away with first place with -5 under, while the team of Peterson+Crowley+Evans+Osborn came in second at -2.   It was a close finish for the rest of the teams.  Full Results, including Gross and Net Skins and KP are in the attached PDF.

  • Home Course (4/18) – Our second 18-hole series event was straight stroke play at the Home Course in Lacey.  Twenty-Six players competed in two flights.  Jeffrey Krauss and Michelle Mobley tied in Flight 1 at +1 net. Michelle is our first female member, and she won on her first outing!  Adam Hill absolutely dominated Flight 2 from a net perspective, posting an impressive 63 (nine under par) to take the net crown by four shots. Hill's round featured multiple eagle efforts, including picking up one gross and two net skins. Anthony Zamarripa finished second in net at 67 (five under), followed by Tom Osborn at 69 (three under).

The skins competition saw plenty of action across the course. Gross skins went to Tim Donnelly (hole 1), Woodrow (hole 2), Steve Morin (hole 3), Chris Evans (hole 6), Hill (hole 7), and Jeffrey Krauss (hole 8). On the net side, the winners were more spread out, with one an albatross and 7 net eagles and one lone birdie.

Closest to the pin honors went to Krauss at 13'4" on the par-3 fourth, Mark Carpenter at 6'1" on the sixth, Woodrow at 20'10" on the twelfth, and Josh Peterson at 12'8" on fourteen.  Full results in attached PDF.

Note: We are still working on finalizing payouts (figuring out how the software works and how to work around a few things) so I’ve only included the results without payouts here.  We will send final results to the tournament participants as soon as we get it worked out.

Remember, you can’t win (or just enjoy the company and the golf) if you don’t come out and play!

 Upcoming Events and Signups

  • Riverbend Weekend Series will be happening this Saturday, April 25, and the weather looks great.  Signups have closed for this event, but we currently have one slot open to fill out the last foursome. Email evergreengc@outlook.com if you want to play.
  • Lake Spanaway Weekend Series event is on May 2.  Signups are open now. Click here to sign up: Lake Spanaway
  • Thursday League starts this Thursday April 23rdand continues every Thursday through September. We currently have a waitlist for this week, but even when there is a waitlist, signup anyway – we usually get a few last-minute cancellations and sometimes we can get more tee times.  Here are the signup links for the currently open events.  Watch for the signup email that comes out every Wednesday afternoon, three weeks before each event.  Registration is $10 (+61 cents fees), and don’t forget to add the “Optional” Skins ($5) when you register.

Tip: You can check to see if you’ve already signed up by clicking the green number beside “Registered” at the bottom of the registration screen.

Hole-in-One Pool

Join our season-long Hole-In-One Pool and win the pot if you are the first one to get a hole-in-one during a regular Evergreen Golf Club event (Weekend Series, Thursday League, or Match Play).  Entry is just $10.  If there’s no winner the pot will carry over until next year.  If there’s a winner, we’ll restart the pool again.  You must be in the Hole-In-One pool to be eligible to win.   (This is our second pool – Brent won last year’s pool).

Sign up here: Hole-In-One Pool #2

Tips on Signup Links (also Live Scoring/Leaderboard)

  • We send out signup links by email when registration opens for each link, plus a “Reminder/Last Chance” email a few days before registration closes.
  • Signup Online: You can also always find the signup links for open events by going to https://egc.golfgenius.com, clicking on Weekend Series or Thursday League, and then clicking on the individual Event Link in the Schedule tab.

Info on Event Links – there are two types…

  • The Event Link is the same link for Signup, for Pairings & Tee Times, and for Live Scoring and the Leaderboard on Tournament Day.  However there are two slight variations.
  • Personalized/Custom Link
    • Registration the Easy Way: The links that you get in email are custom/personalized for YOU – they will automatically fill in your information for registration.
    • Live Scoring the Easy Way:  Your “Tee Sheet/Pairings” email will contain your personalized Event Link (actually the same link as the signup link).  Save this mail for the tournament – this link will automatically unlock your scorecard without needing a separate scorecard code.
  • Generic Link
    • If you use the link from the schedule website (vs your personal email), it is a generic (non-personalized) link.  To register you will have to search your name (which is pretty easy).
    • On tournament day you’ll need a “Scorecard Code” to unlock your scorecard for scoring.  It will be in the email you receive for pairings and tournament info.   For weekend events, if there is a preprinted EGC Scorecard, the Scorecard Code will be on your scorecard. There is also a QR code that will take you straight to the site.

Did I Already Register for an Event? Who else is Registered?

NEW for 2026: You can confirm if you are signed up, and see who else is signed up, at the Event Link (from email or the web site).  At the bottom right, click on the green number beside “Registered.”

Skins Signup Info for 2026

New for 2026: You can now sign up for Skins when you register for an event! When you register, there is an option to “Add 1” to add the Skins fee to your registration.  The good news is that you don’t have to watch out for the separate Skins email and sign up for it separately.  On the other hand, this is the ONLY way to sign up for skins, so don’t forget.  Unfortunately, we don’t have an easy way to add you to skins after registration as we don’t have any way to collect payment.

How to Cancel an event registration

There is no way to Cancel online.  Please send an email to EvergreenGC@outlook.com to cancel a registration.  The new Live Tourney software doesn’t require login, passwords, etc. but that also means there’s currently no secure way to allow someone to sign in to cancel an existing paid registration.  Plus, we need to manually manage the refund if there is one.  If you do need to cancel, please let us know ASAP – the sooner we know, the better. If it’s before the registration deadline, we can offer a full refund (minus credit card fees).  If it’s after the deadline, the refund will depend on whether we can fill your slot or whether the course will let us cut back on the attendee list without charging for the unused tee times.

Default Tees – Playing Up

We have several members who are more finding it more comfortable and fun “Playing Up” on shorter tees.  This can make the game more enjoyable if your drive isn’t what it used to be and you’re not trying to hit a 5-wood into every green.   You should be hitting an iron (typ. 5-7 iron) into at least some of the Par 4 greens for your second shot if you hit a typical drive.  Handicap strokes are automatically adjusted for the different tees.  If you’d like to do this, let us know via “Special Requests” when you register, or by email at EvergreenGC@outlook.com.  For Thursdays, we will update the default tees for you so it should be automatic each week.  For weekend series, it will be an individual setting each weekend, so the Tournament Director will probably need a reminder each week in the Special Requests when you register.

Score Posting by EGC

A quick reminder – EGC will automatically POST your scores for all Stroke Play events – Weekend Series and Thursday League.  For Match Play (more info coming soon) you’ll need to post your own score as soon as the match is completed.  If you accidentally post your own score, or have already done so for an event this year, contact us via email and we can delete one of the duplicate scores.

EGC Web Site/Portal

Please remember to bookmark/save our EGC Website Portal. You can use it to register for events, and there is a lot of other good club information on the various tabs, including our local rules, how to make sure emails are not getting blocked by Spam, etc.   https://egc.golfgenius.com

Membership Drive

If you know anyone (male or female) who you think would like to play golf with EGC, please send them the link to our web site portal.  All the information they need is there, or they can contact us directly via email.  We’d love to get a few more new active members this year.

Full Weekend Series Schedule

We’ve published the full Weekend Series schedule to the website – https://egc.golfgenius.com.  Be sure to put these on your calendar.  The current list is also included below.

If you want to import the full schedule of Weekend Series dates directly into your calendar - Click here: EGC Golf 2026 Calendar.ics – Click IMPORT to import into your main calendar.  If you click Open it will create a secondary calendar with just the golf events.  You can also do both.  (The current .ics only includes events through August).

Notes on Weekend Series Registration:

  1. Registration will typically open 3-4 weeks prior to the event.
  2. Registration Deadline is officially Friday night 1 week (8 days) prior to the event to meet course commitment timelines.  In some cases, we may be able to extend the Friday night deadline a few days for some events, but don’t count on it.
  3. Some events are still tentative – marked TBD

The image displays a schedule of golf tournaments, including details like course names, dates, times, and costs, for events spanning from April to August.

March 2026 - Spring Kickoff Newsletter

Greetings Evergreen Golf Club players!

The 2026 season is just a few weeks away. Our opening "Spring Kickoff" tournament is on Saturday, April 4th, at Legion Memorial in Everett. As in past years, this is a team event, a 4 player, 2 best ball net format. It's a great way to kick off the year with a less stressful round and shake the rust off of your game. It's also a great way to introduce your friends and neighbors to Evergreen Golf Club, so if you have friends, please invite them to join us as well.

Signups will open on March 14th for the Spring Kickoff. Watch your email for the signup notice.

Following the kickoff, rounds at The Home Course (April 18th) and Riverbend (April 25th) are lined up. Thursday league play will start up later in April, with Match Play kicking off in May, so get your game ready.

The full calendar will be out soon!

While you are gearing up, remember to renew your full Evergreen Club Membership (including GHIN) or basic membership if you have GHIN elsewhere. Links to do so are on our website (https://egc.golfgenius.com).

Plus, it is now officially posting season, so if you've played any rounds since March 1, be sure to record them. When posting scores be sure to follow maximum net double bogey on any given hole guidelines. If you don't know how that works, enter your hole-by-hole scores on your GHIN app and the computer will handle it for you.

We're looking forward to a great 2026. Hope to see you on the course soon!

March 10, 2026 - Welcome to Live Tourney - Live Tourney Launch

Hi John,

Welcome to the first email from our new system, LiveTourney. Hopefully you are getting this in your regular mailbox, but if you find it in your junk mail folder, PLEASE do the following:

  1. Mark (or "report") this mail as "Not Junk" and add the sender to your safe sender list if asked.
  2. Important: Add the following to your contact list as Evergreen Golf Club (two separate contacts)
  3. EvergreenGC@outlook.com
  4. noreply@livetourney.com

This will help most email systems not mark it as junk mail.

We are going to follow this up with a second mail from our old Golf Genius mailing list, to let everyone know to make sure they got this, or that they check their junk mail folder. Sorry for any duplicate emails, but we need to make sure everything is working before we start sending out tournament signup, tee sheet, results and newsletter emails using our new system.

Newsletter

A full newsletter should be coming out within the next week or so with more club information. I'm just the web guy.

March 7 - NEW INFO for 2026 - Live Tourney Announcement

Hi Golfers,

We wanted to reach out to everyone with some important NEW information on changes for EGC for 2026.

We will be using new software this year.  We will be using LiveTourney for our Tournament Scheduling and Newsletters for 2026.  While there are a few new tricks to learn, so far it is FASTER and for the most part EASIER to use than Golf Genius.

  • Everything is in a Web Browser - on your computer or your phone.  No separate app to download.  This means that the links you receive in Email will be important for your Tee Times and Scorecards.
  • You need to Take ACTION TODAY to make sure LiveTourney (and our other emails) are not blocked by email Spam Filters.  See below for instructions.

Why are we using LiveTourney in 2026 instead of Golf Genius?

  1. Faster Interface - it's faster for scoring, leaderboards and general use.
  2. Easier - once we all get used to it we think it's going to be easier to use.
  3. Cheaper - OK, this is more for running the club, but it's 33% cheaper for the club than Golf Genius Premium.
  4. The developer is based in Redmond and has been super-helpful in making changes and adding features to support EGC. It's a small business and wants to work with us.

If we are switching to LiveTourney, why are you still sending this from Golf Genius, and why is the main web portal still on Golf Genius?

  • We still get Golf Genius Basic free through Washington Golf/USGA.  It still offers a basic web portal and email, and is still sync'd with GHIN.
  • To start out we thought it would be easier if we maintained the same web portal address everyone knows.
  • We're using the Golf Genius emails to kick off a few transition emails because most of you already get them (e.g. no Spam or Junk Mail filters).  We are concerned that some initial mail from LiveTourney may end up in Junk Mail folders or blocked, and some people may not see it.

What do I need to do TODAY?

  1. See below for Avoiding Spam Filters.  We will send our first announcement from LiveTourney email in 2-3 days.
  2. If you have not yet Activated your Membership/GHIN for Evergreen Golf Club for 2026, go to https://egc.golfgenius.com.  Scroll down on the home page for instructions. There are two options:  Regular Membership including GHIN, and discounted membership if you already have an active GHIN at another club.

Avoiding Spam Filters - How to get Round Signup and other emails from Evergreen Golf Club

EGC uses three different email systems to contact members:

  1. Email directly from EvergreenGC@outlook.com.  This is how you contact the tournament managers and the board.  We occasionally may reply from this email or send a broad email blast using this account.
  2. Live Tourney - New for 2026 - Our primary tournament signup and management system for 2026.  Email for event registration will come from noreply@livetourney.com.  There is a possibility that new emails from Evergreen Golf Club on LiveTourney will go to your Junk Mail folder.
  3. Golf Genius - Golf Genius, provided by USGA, provides our primary web portal and was used as our primary tournament software from 2022 to 2025.  We will still use it for occasional emails to the entire club and may continue to use for special purposes.  Email comes from noreply@golfgenius.com

How to prevent Evergreen Golf Club emails from being blocked by Junk Mail filters:

  • Please do the following to prevent emails from going to your junk mail folder.
    1. (Most Important!) Add each of these three email addresses to your contact list, especially the new LiveTourney email.  Please create a separate contact for each.  Most email systems will treat email from anyone in your contact list as not-spam.
      1. EvergreenGC@outlook.com
      2. noreply@livetourney.com
      3. noreply@golfgenius.com
    2. (Optional but good to do) Open your Junk Mail filter and add each of these email addresses to your safe senders list.
      • For GMail, under settings, Filters, you can create a "filter" with the email addresses above and the filter should be set to "Never send to Spam."
      • In Classic Outlook – In the Home bar, “Delete” group, select Block and then Junk Mail Options.  Click the Safe Senders tab and then Add button.
      • In Outlook on the Web – click the Gear at the top right for Settings, then Mail / Junk Mail and click “Add Safe Sender.”
    3. (Advanced) Check your junk mail block list from to make sure golfgenius.com and livetourney.com are not on your block list.
    4. (Extra advanced) Send a mail with "Please Ignore - test mail" in the title to each of the above addresses.  You can click on the above email links to create the email with the title pre-filled.  The act of sending an email to the address from your account helps mark it as valid.

  • Please watch your junk mail folder for newsletters and tournament signup emails to make sure they are not getting blocked.

Thank you very much!
