Tee Time or Playing Partner Requests: How do I request an Early or Late Tee Time, or request a specific playing partner?
Each time you register for a round, the confirmation screen has a link for "Questions for the Tournament Manager?" This is where you make special requests. Please request either an early/late tee time OR a specific playing partner, but not both at the same time (e.g. I'd like to have the first tee time and play with Tiger).
Thursday League
Put a block on your work calendar now for the entire summer for Thursday afternoons. It's time for the EGC Thursday Golf League. Sneak out a bit early and get 9-holes and a few beers in before dark. Click on Thursday League at the top of the page for more info and how to register.
Registration for each round opens up three weeks in advance for each Thursday round at 6pm the prior Wednesday evening. There is an online/automatic wait list. When you sign up, if the event is full you will automatically be placed in a first-come, first-served wait list. If you can’t play, please cancel on the website as soon as you know so the next person on the waitlist will be put on the playing list. You will get an automated email notice if you are moved from the waitlist to the playing roster.. Please do not email the board, we can no longer add or remove people from the wait list, it’s online only.
Scoring and Scorecards
Live Scoring: EGC will be using Golf Genius Live Scoring. You must keep both a paper card and use live scoring as described below.
How to Download and Use the Mobile App: <Click Here>
During Stroke Play tournaments (Weekend Tournaments and Thursday League), one person in each foursome is responsible for entering scores in live scoring after each hole while a second person will keep a paper scorecard. Failure to enter scores for your foursome in Golf Genius live scoring during the round will result in a 1-stroke penalty for each person in the group. Exception: If Live Scoring is not enabled when you tee off, and is not subsequently enabled by the time you complete the 5th hole (check again), you can defer entering your scores until the round is completed. Live scoring must be completed within 1 hour of completing your round.
For Match Play, entering scores in live scoring during the round is optional but recommended. A paper scorecard must be maintained in all match play. If scores are not entered in live scoring during the match, they must be entered in Golf Genius immediately (within 1 hour) after the round is completed. (An exception to live scoring is granted if the course is not the correct course in Golf Genius during your round.)
Paper Card: In addition to the live scoring, each group must keep at least one paper scorecard with all individual scores recorded. If a pre-printed scorecards are not provided, use a regular course scorecard from the golf course. The paper card should be kept by any player who is not the live scoring scorekeeper. Scores must be legible and any corrections made clearly. The card must be signed by the scorekeeper (marker) and by at least one other person in the group (certifier).
Each foursome must compare the results on the paper scorecards with the live scoring results at the end of the round to ensure there were no typos entering live score results before turning in the paper scorecard. You would be surprised how rarely there are not any typos in the live scoring. Make sure you always do this carefully!
Signed paper cards must be returned to the tournament director immediately following the round. If the tournament director is not available, a photo can be sent in to EvergreenGC@outlook.com. This must be done within 1 hour after the completion of the round. Failure to turn in a card (paper or photo) promptly (1 hour) will result in disqualification per USGA Rule 3.3 b (2).
For Thursday 9-hole league, if you choose to play additional holes, someone from your group (or a group after yours) must bring the cards in to the tournament director. Do not plan to turn your paper cards in after playing 18 holes on Thursdays, they must be turned in within 1 hour of the completion of your round. The tournament director will not stick around waiting for you.
Match Play: In lieu of turning in the paper scorecard, please send in a photo of the scorecard to EvergreenGC@outlook.com. See match play instructions for details.
How to view Weekend and Thursday Results on this portal
After a round result is finalized, you can always see the full leaderboard/results from Thursday League (or Weekend Events) using the Evergreen Golf Club Web Portal - https://egc.golfgenius.com (when the leaderboard is no longer visible in the app).
Just click on Thursday League button (or Weekend Events) and then on Results, and you will see a list of all the event dates and a link to the corresponding results. You can use "Expand All" to see all the individual scores.
Handicap & Stats info
Check out the "Handicap and Stats" section in the Weekend Majors and Thursday League for some cool stats about your game and your opponents. Just look for the "Handicap & Stats" section on the Weekend Majors or Thursday League Portal page.
Payments:
Greens and Tournament Fees: When you register for a round in Golf Genius, you will be charged for the Greens and Tournament fee at that time. We are required to pre-pay each course for the tee times we have reserved. This will make registration and payment an easy one-step process.
Optional Skins Payments: We send out an email each week prior to each round, with an option to pay for skins.
What is my GGID?
Are you trying to sign in to Golf Genius and can't figure out your GGID? There is no such thing as an individual or personal GGID (Golf Genius ID). GGIDs are "Event IDs" for individual events and rounds.
As an Evergreen Golf Club member, you should use your Golf Genius account (email/password) to sign in. We do not rely on GGID for our regular Weekend, Thursday or Match Play Live Scoring. A GGID is not the same as your GHIN ID or your Golf Genius login name.
A GGID is used for specific events and rounds where you don't need a username or password. Some organizations such as the USGA will use GGIDs for large events where there are a lot of guests that need to sign in that don't have a Golf Genius account, or where the event is managed by email invitations and registration. Since we use individual GG accounts to sign in and register for events, we don't use GGIDs.
Posting Rounds under WHS - Please use Hole-by-Hole on GHIN when posting your own scores
You don't need to read this whole article. Just post your rounds using Hole-by-Hole entry on GHIN and it will take care of the math for you.
If you post your total score instead of hole by hole, be sure to use Net Double Bogey as the limit. Don't keep using ESC because it's what you used to do and it's easier. It's wrong. Equitable Stroke Control is no more. If you use ESC rules when posting you are probably posting a higher score than you are allowed, e.g. adding extra strokes to your score.
Do it the easy way - Just use the Hole-by-Hole score entry in the GHIN App or web page, and it will automatically adjust for Net Double Bogey for you. It takes less than a minute.
Hole-by-Hole entry of each hole score is pretty quick. This is a lot easier than figuring out your Course Handicap with the new CH formula, then figuring out where you get dots, then figuring out the max score on each hole, and actually getting it all correct.
What is Net Double Bogey? WHS introduces the concept of Net Double Bogey for your maximum hole score. What does that mean? It means you simply figure ou the strokes (dots) you are allowed on each hole, add par, and add two. On a par 3 where you get one stroke, you get 3+1+2 for a max of 5. On a par 5 where you get two strokes, you get 5+2+2=9 strokes. Simple so far, right?
But what if you have to figure out the dots yourself? First, look up your Course Handicap on the GHIN App on your phone on the DAY of the Round. If you have to figure out your Course Handicap from your Handicap Index manually, it's a lot more complicated than it used to be before 2020. There's a new formula starting in 2020 under WHS. Not only do you have to multiply by slope, but then you have to subtract Course Rating from Par and then subtract that number from the old course rating. Trust me, without the formula in front of you and a calculator, you will probably screw it up. So look up Course Handicap in the GHIN App on your phone.
Next, apply the dots on the scorecard to the holes in handicap order (using the Handicap row on the scorecard). Make sure all the dots are on the right holes. Now, for each hole, add par to the dots, and then add two more strokes - that's the maximum score. Make sure to use the maximum when you add up your scores if it applies. It's not the same for every hole.
That sure is a lot of work; isn't there an easier way?
I'm glad you asked. First, for all EGC Stroke Play events (Weekend Majors, Thursday League, etc.) we will post for you and the software will make the adjustment. So you don't have to worry about this for any EGC events where we post scores for you.
Whenever you post yourself, (Casual Rounds and EGC Match Play events) just use the "Hole-by-Hole" link on the GHIN App or web site, enter your full scores for each hole (3 at a time) and you are done. It will do all the math for you.
